                    About Us

 

     A family owned and operated business since 1988! Founder, Mike Schoen, opened his doors for the first time in the Kern River Valley back in 1988 at Dam Korner #4 in Mt. Mesa. While there, he and his father, Glenn Howell, built a reputation for high quality automotive repair and outstanding customer service. After 11 years, he moved to Lake Isabella and renamed it Mike's Automotive. A few years later, Mike was offered his "dream job" and accepted a promising position at Mesa Marin Raceway as Director of Youth Motorsports. 

 

     After a major car accident in the Kern Canyon, Mike re-opened his doors in Wofford Heights January 2008 with son in law, Justin Lyon, where he continued his high quality repairs and excellent customer service. Mike unexpectedly passed  in July 2008. Robin Schoen, his wife, resumed the business, re-naming it Schoen's Repair & Smog. Robin's health declined in 2013. Maggie (Mike & Robin's daughter) and husband Justin Lyon took over the business.

     

      Mike's philosophy was to always provide his customers with honest advice and reputable service. He believed that every one of his customers deserve a full and honest explanation, and not be charged for unnecessary services. All of his honesty, integrity and values were instilled into this family owned and operated buisness and continue today with Dam Korner Auto and The Smog Shop!

 

      Dam Korner Auto and The Smog Shop have made many customer appreciated upgrades and we have the most up to date equipment! We have relocated to a larger facility to increase the ability of quality customer satisfaction and productivity, in turn turn leaving shorter wait times for our customers! 

 

      We invite you to come and enjoy our comfortable waiting room. We offer refreshements and some snacks may be available. We even have some childrens toys to keep the little ones occupied while you wait!
